100 Whales Wash Up At Beach 600 Km From Chennai


Tuticorn, Jan 12 (NDTV): Around 100 whales are stranded on a beach in Tuticorin in Tamil Nadu since last night.

Fishermen and officials dragged many of the beached whales back into the sea but they keep returning to the shores near Manapadu and Kallamozhi villages, say officials.

"These are small fin whales. They appear disoriented. It is the first time so many have been beached," senior district official Ravi Kumar said as he visited Manapadu.
