Mumbai, Sep 20: Bell-bottoms and sideburns will make a comeback in a new Bollywood film about reincarnation in which superstar heartthrob Shah Rukh Khan plays an actor who comes back from the dead.
Directed by Farah Khan, Om Shanti Om is the story of a young, talented actor in the 1970s who falls for a superstar but dies before he can win her love. He is then reborn, this time as a successful actor in present-day Bollywood, but one who has to rely on his macho image, rather than his talent, to succeed.
"The film is about reincarnation in which I play two different roles," Khan, one of India's biggest stars, said at a promotional event late on Tuesday.
Om Shanti Om recreates 1970s Bollywood and the fashion of the era -- bell-bottoms, appliqué saris, long-collared shirts, sideburns and matted back brush. Om Shanti Om is scheduled to open in November.
