Mangaluru, Jun 3 : The entire hall was jam packed by audiences at the 'Tribute to Legends', a show organized on a grand scale successfully on May 29 this year at Mangaluru Town hall. Regrettably, the organizers could not accommodate all the people who were interesting in witnessing the programme because of paucity of space. A number of audiences had to return home disappointed due to non-availability of seats.
The show started at 5.45 pm sharp with the inaugural song picked from yesteryear's hit movie, 'Do Aankhen Barah Haath'. The inaugural ceremony was officially inaugurated at 6.00 pm by Fernandes R Francis, Dubai, who also was joined by celebrity actress from Bollywood, Poonam Dhillon . Short addresses were delivered by both of them.
Dhillon expressed her love for Mangaluru and also appreciated beautiful Town Hall building . Both Fernandes and Dhillon thanked the gracious people of Mangaluru who had gathered in large numbers for this programme despite having to lose the opportunity to watch popular IPL finals. Inauguration was followed by rendering of a number of Hindi hit songs one after the other by by Srikanth, Anita, Ranjan, Shafi and Akhila, who succeeded in transporting the audiences four decades back with their soulful and skillful singing. They were clearly spectacular. The show was dominated by hits of Amitabh and Rajesh Khanna among others .
Thereafter, Poonam Dhillon was honored by Raju Fernandes and Zeena Shenoy. The show came to end at around 9.30 pm, the last song being from the film, 'Amar Akbar Antony' . Attractive gifts were distributed to the winners of the quiz conducted by master of ceremony, Prem.
Prem conducted the show beautifully. He was accompanied by young Leanza Dsouza who was impressive. Pappan Music was the key factor in the grand show and was vital for its success .
It was nice to see that a sizable number of people were sitting in their seats long after the show concluded. No doubt the show has become talk of the town and truly rarest of rare and true tribute to legends . Now a frequent question one comes across happens to be, “when will the show be held next?”
