Dubai: Geeta Suvarna Elected President of Billawa Balaga Women's Wing

Dubai, Nov 19: Billawa Balaga Dubai under the leadership of Convenors Raghuram Suvarna, Chandrashekar M and Harish Amin hosted the party for all the working committee members with their family on 16th Nov 2007 at Hotel Winny’s. A gathering of more than 125 people attended and exhibited a new liveliness in celebration party. Chandrashekar M welcomed the gathering and Ashok Anchan gave a brief on the success of Dasha Madipu.
Convenor Raghuram Suvarna told the gathering that they were thankful to the committee members for having provided the opportunity to lead the committee in its decennial celebration and that the time has come to have a new executive committee for the year 2008. He said that they were proud to honour the commitment of every year rotation of leadership in true spirit and hand over the charge to a new generation to take ahead the well defined objectives of the Balaga.
In a true democratic manner a new executive committee was nominated for the year 2008 bringing together a perfect blend of experience and exuberant youth. The official announcement of the same will be done shortly.
Ashwin Salian who was the master of ceremony called upon the gathering for the formation of executive committee for the Mahila Sangha which has been named as Billawa Balaga Mahila Vibhaga. The launch of the Mahila Sangha was done during the 19th October 10th year celebration event.
Geeta Suvarna’s name was proposed for the post of President and she was unanimously nominated for the coveted post with Roopa Sanil as General Secretary, Jaishree Chandrashekar as Joint Secretary, Aparna Pushparaj as Treasurer, Malathi Pratap and Smitha Suchit as event management secretary. The new executive committee of Billawa Balaga Mahila Vibhaga will be in place for 2 years and then followed by the one year rotation policy.
A six member bye law committee was also nominated to draft the bye laws to be the future governing policy for Billawa Balaga Dubai and its Mahila Vibhaga. The bye law committee will be chaired by Suchit Kumar and submit the report to the new working committee before the end of this year.
Founders of Billawa Balaga Dubai Daya Kirodian and Sudhakar Thumbay also spoke on the occasion and encouraged new faces to come ahead to take the lead in promoting Balaga objectives.
Daya gave special praise to Billawara Balaga Abu Dhabi executive committee members Suresh Salian, Dayanand Bangera and Pradeep Kirodian who have worked hand in hand with Billawa Balaga Dubai. Suresh Salian and Dayanand Bangera also attended the function.
Representatives from Al Ain, Fujarah and Ajman also attended the function and were welcomed by Sudhakar Thumbay and Ashok Anchan. They were inducted into the working committee as co-ordinators for the respective emirates. The respective members are Sitaram Poojary for Al Ain, Sachin Raj for Fujairah and Ravindra Annaya for Ajman. The co-ordinators for Um Al Quain and RAK Emirates would be inducted soon.
