Apostolic Carmel Educational Institutions celebrate I-Day

Mangaluru, Aug 16: The Apostolic Carmel Educational Institutions on St Ann’s Campus celebrated the 70th Independence Day on the school grounds. The Carmel School band welcomed the guests and dignitaries of the day. The entire programme was organized and managed by the Principal, the Staff and Students of Carmel School.

After the Joint Secretary SrEdna Furtado AC unfurled the National Flag, the school band played the National Anthem. The entire programme was conducted in Hindi, the national language of India.

On this occasion the two ex-servicemen Honorary Captain Vijay Attavar and Marcel Pinto were honoured for their self sacrifice and devoted service to the nation. Sadananda Karkera who was also an ex-army man and was to be felicitated was unable to attend the function due to ill health. A short profile about him was given to the audience and later the Principal SrSarika and a few of her staff members went personally to honour him at his residence.

Welcome was accorded by Apeksha of Std.X, Significance of the day was given by Swarna Kamath of Std.IX and the programme was compeered by Swathika Shetty and Shamitha of Std.X.
