Kundapur: TMC anguished at police inaction on violation of council rules

Kundapur, Dec 7: The ordinary meeting of the town municipal council was held on Tuesday December 6. The council members expressed anguish at the inaction of police regarding restricting the movement of council officials who went to question Bhandarkar College management constructing building violating the municipal council rules.

Udaya Mendon said that the college had permission for constructing only one floor but officials had tried to assault the council official who objected to constructing another floor. “Action should be initiated against the guilty however influential they may be,” he said. Raviraj Kharvi said that a condemnation motion should be taken in the meeting and the concerned engineer should be blacklisted. Chandrashekar Kharvi said that inaction of the police is unfortunate. “The council should take it seriously,” he said. Council president Vasanthi Mohan Saranga said that a complaint is registered against the college. Chief official Gopalakrishna Shetty said that the revenue department will be taking action against the illegal construction. Rajesh Kaveri said that they should hold protests in front of the police station if action is not taken within the next three days.

Worker becomes victim of UGD project: Udaya Mendon said that discussions regarding drainage project confusion existed since the beginning. “A worker has died due to lack of precautions. Strict action should be taken against the company,” he said. Raviraj Kharvi alleged that it is murder. Ravikala Ganesh Sherugar said that the incident is sad and urged for compensation to the family of the deceased. Kalavathi U S alleged negligence. Vitala Kunder expressed dissatisfaction that UGD officials do not respond to phone calls. Members alleged lack of quality in work. They were not convinced with the answer by UGD in charge Rakshit. Udaya Mendon said that while children who fall into hundreds of feet deep borewells are being rescued how was it not possible to rescue a worker who fell into ten feet deep mud. “Why was the JCB driver quiet? What action will you take against him?” he asked.

Funds for ring roads urged:
The president announced that Rs seven crore fifty lac are received from the town development project and stressed on the need to spend for drinking water. Raviraj Kharvi said that it was decided to spend if more than five crore are received, the amount in excess of five crore for the ring road. It should be followed, he said. Sridhar Sherigar objected to it saying that there are many jobs pending in the member’s ward and such huge amounts cannot be used for a ring road. Sandeep Kodi joined him. Chandrashekar Kharvi asked not to forget the ring road work.

Chandrashekar Kharvi suggested to use Rs one crore for drinking water project, Rs 1.5 crore for ring road. There were arguments between Ravikala Ganesh Sherugar, Sandeep Kodi, Vital Kunder, Raviraj Kharvi, Shankuntala Prakash, Pushpa shet and Prabhakar Kodi on the subject.

Council president Vasanthi Mohan presided. Vice president Rajesh Kaveri, standing committee president Geetha, chief official Gopalakrishna Shetty were present. The government was congratulated for release of funds. The death of Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa was condoled on the occasion.

    No further action on the complaint. In the first place the officials of the TMC have no powers to permit large constructions. Having done that, they can not pursue the complaint. All for show.
