Deposits of over Rs 5000 in old notes allowed only once until Dec 30


New Delhi, Dec 19 (PTI/Agencies): Old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes in excess of Rs 5000 can be deposited only once per account until December 30th 2016, the Ministry of Finance has said.

RBI imposed stiff conditions on deposit of old notes exceeding Rs 5,000.

Credit of deposits in such cases will be accepted only after receiving a satisfactory explanation. The tenderer will be asked as to why this couldn't be done earlier, according to reports.

    Rs. 5,000- plus ?
    Why targeting the poor people. Possible that some people still hold old notes due to inconvenience of standing in the Queue and insisting on a proof? senseless.
    Lakhs and crore have changed hands and changed to new notes and already withdrawn to safe heavens. Senseless rule.

    Black money, fake currencies already came to the Banking system. Now the common citizens holding their hard earned money and could not deposit in the Bank so far due to big ques. So poor people will suffer and lose their money. This is Modi's dictatorship raaj and for sure BJP will pay heavy penalty for this blunder.
