Mangalore Jan 29: The National Curriculum framework which has been portrayed as the greatest achievement of 2005 as far as education sector is concerned, has not yet reached the hands of the teachers. Then how do teachers participate and become a part of the changes, asked State Primary Education Director T M Kumar.

Speaking at the Educational convention as part of post centenary diamond jubilee celebrations of Milagres Pre-University College here on Monday, he said that the only recent change in the education sector is the ‘examination sovereignty’. Examination is there in every stream of study and it has proliferated in such a manner that education without examination is hard to imagine, he added. "We are failing the children in the pretext of examination only because we are incapable. Ironically we have transformed Trimester learning system into Trimester Examination system," he pointed out.

He opined that in education sector their is a lot of difference between what one thinks and what one implements.

"The definition of a classroom is still not clear to us. The usage of black board in the classrooms have reduced many folds in present days," he added. KMC Lecturer Dr Elizabeth Daniel, Writer Ambathanaya Mudradi were chief guests on the occasion.  Earlier, inaugurating the convention, Co-ordinator of the college Fr Walter D’Mello said that a teacher is the most decisive factor in a class room as it i the teacher’s behaviour that decides the climate of the class room.   Principal Fr Lawrence D’Souza and Vice Principal Herald Monteiro were among the present. A number of Head Masters and Head Mistresses from Primary as well as high schools from across Mangalore Taluk attended the convention.
