Bengaluru: Governor Vala to launch 'Vidya Veerta Abhiyan' to mark Quit India

Bengaluru, Aug 8: In a novel initiatiative, Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala will be launching an unique 'Vidya Veerta Abhiyan' to mark the 75th anniversary of Quit India movement at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday.

Recipient of India's supreme war time decoration, Param Veer Chakra Award Naib Subedar Yogendra Singh Yadav is specially flying in to participate in the grand launch of Vidya Veerta Abhiyan in Raj Bhavan at 3 pm.

He will be sharing his war time experiences with the selected audience at Raj Bhavan. Tarun Vijay, President of the Vidya Veerta Abhiyan, and initiator of the idea is also accompanying the Kargil hero.

'Terrorism quit India' is the message for the day, said an official press release.

The Raj Bhavan programme will be attended by all Vice Chancellors of Universities and heads major educational institutions of Karnataka.

The Governor will hand over the CDs containing the High Resolution portraits of the Param Veer Chakra Awardee soldiers to the VCs who will make a Wall of Heroes in their respective educational institutions to put up the framed portraits of the war heroes.

The move is to introduce the 'real heroes' of the nation to younger generation and inspire the students with the valour and wisdom of the warriors instilling a spirit of patriotism, said Tarun Vijay.

"We expect that the VCs and all other colleges and educational institutions will take inspiration from this programme and have the portraits of all such great warriors, including the ones from their region, in their campuses," said Vijay.

Param Veer Chakra Awardees must become nationally recognised Heroes. They inspire students with discipline and help becoming socially responsible citizens, he added.
