Mangaluru: Protesters demand implementation of sixth pay commission report

Mangaluru, Oct 26: Karnataka State Government Employees association carried out a protest on Wednesday, Oct 25, near the DC office, demanding the implementation of the recommendations of the sixth pay commission before the end of November and to also provide 30% interim relief as applicable from April 1, 2017.

Their statement read, "Karnataka state government has given only 17.5% provision in the budget to pay government employees. Neighbouring state of Kerala, despite of lack of resources is providing 30%. Karnataka State Government will have to bear the additional expenditure of Rs 5000 crores. This should not be a burden for a government that presents a budget of Rs 1.5 lac crore as per the association.


    








Speaking on the occasion, Ramesh Kirodian, honorary president of D group employees' association said,"If our demands are not met we will commit suicide."

Rita D'Sa, chief secretary, district government employees' association welcomed the gathering and read the request letter.

Gopalakrishna, treasurer, P K Krishna, vice-president, M B Devdas, Agnel Pinto, Dolphy Sequeira, MLC, Jayanth, Divisional Organizing secetary were also present.
