Mangalore, Jun 23: Mescom has no other option but to obey the directrions given to it by the State Load Dispatch Centre(SLDC) and load shedding will continue to be the order of the day in the coming days, said Mescom executive engineer K Jagadish.
Speaking at the mass contact programme organised on Sunday June 22 by the Mescom at Bejai St Lourdes Auditorium in the city, is explained that 970 mega watts of power is being used within the jurisdiction of Mescom. But, as per the directions of the Load Dispach Centre, we are permitted to draw only 780 mega watts of power. Mescom has to shell out higher rates if it uses excess power, he said.
The SLDC which distributes power to all the electricity companies(escoms) in the state through the southern grid, keeps a watch on the supply position and utilisationlevels. Mescom does not have power to disregard it's instructions, he informed.
For improving the quality of power in the city, power stations are planned to be set up at six places for which tender processes have been completed. These stations will be set up at Attavar,Bejai, Jeppu, Kadri, Mannagudda and Alake. Once Nagarjua Power Plant is commissioned, a power station will also come at Kateel, he said.
On the occasion, a meeting on 'public petitions on frequent power cuts in Mangalore' too was held. Bejai Parish Council vice president Joseph Nazsaret presided. Mescom assistant executive engineer Sadhana, B L Shivamurth, Manjunath and K shashindra were present. were present.
