Mangalore: Goods Train Derails, Railway Traffic on Bangalore Route Disrupted

Mangalore, Jul 30: A goods train moving towards Bangalore from Mangalore derailed near Goltamajal in Kalladka on Tuesday July 29 night. As a result, the passenger trains slated to leave Mangalore at 6.35 am and 10.30 am on Wednesday July 30, had to be cancelled.

The train arriving from Bangalore to Mangalore Wednesday morning, has cut short its trip at Puttur itself and passengers had to travel by buses or other means to reach Mangalore. The railway lines are expected to be ready for traffic by night on Wednesday. The passengers, who are already worried over poor security in trains, are faced with the additional apprehension of the safety of the railway tracks. The railway department here has not come out with any official statement so far on this incident.

    Wonderful pictures! Two points to note: The accident has happened just after the train has crossed a bridge, so vehicles have not been in danger secondly, it is a goods train, so no human casualties

    The Railway department have to wake up now and should give higher protection, when the train moves through the ghat section after the Subramanya station(Nettana). Because, if this incident happens in ghat section, there may no alternate way to rescue the passengers.
