Mumbai, Aug 5: Albert Tauro, who was functioning as the executive director of Central Bank of India, has taken over charge as the chairman and managing director of public sector Vijaya Bank.
Tauro had become the executive director of Central Bank of India on June 6, 2007. He is considered an expert in institutional lending, credit for infrastructural projects, crisis management and Basel 2 implementation.
Tauro had started his banking career by joining Reserve Bank of India in 1971 and after getting masters degree in commerce, joined Canara bank in 1975. He held various positions in Canara Bank before getting elevated as executive director of Central Bank of India. He also had worked as the member of IDFC Private Investment Advisory Board.
