Fr Denis D’Sa began his address with a song of late Wilfy Rebimbus. “Without music our life is nothing. Music plays a vital role in our life. Organizing such event is not an easy task. We have witnessed this event since morning and it has come out so well. The main motive behind this is to get the hidden talent, to bring out the best musician in our diocese. We have so many graceful singers in our diocese. Let there be a healthy competition between us and let us accept the decisions gracefully. This will lead us to win the hearts of the people. And to the winners, let us not have ego about the same. I appreciate the senior singers who participated in the event.”

At the inauguration of the event in the morning Fr Stany B Lobo, chancellor of Udupi diocese unveiled the trophies of 15th Udupi diocese level inter-parish singing competition.

Inaugurating the event Fr Stany B Lobo said, “Even though all are not able to sing, we love to listen to music and enjoy the same. Even a deaf loves to listen to music. Music gives happiness to everyone, it gives peace of mind to everyone and it is an important part of life. Music brings out the best talents in us. To get this happiness out of us, ICYM Pangla has been organizing this inter-parish Konkani singing competition from last 14 years. I appreciate the youth of this parish; they have tried to bring out the talents in us. May this competition be a successful one; I wish all the competitors all the best.”

In his Introductory remark Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves, parish priest of St John the Evangelist Church, said, “Music is the language of heart, music is in growing trees and we human beings have given a shape to this by setting lyrics and tone. If words are the language of tongue, then music is the language of heart. It comforts when we are lonely and in sadness. Eric Ozario, Wilfy Rebimbus, Melwyn Peris have contributed much to the Konkani music. Reality shows like Gulf Voice of Mangalore, Muzo Thalo Gaitalo have given a huge platform to our Konkani singers. And the same our youth too are contributing from last 14 years. I wish all the very best for this program and to all the contestants.”

Veenal Castelino gave a brief introduction about the judges of the competition.

Judges of the event were Ivy D’Souza, Shakthinagar, Zeena Periera, Angelore, Roshan Crasta, Bela, and Meera Crasta, Bondel.

Prince Noronha, secretary ICYM Pangla unit welcomed the gathering. Joel proposed the vote of thanks.
