Mangalore: Incident 09 - NITK (Former KREC) Annual Cultural Festival

Mangalore, Nov 19: INCIDENT is one of the premier college cultural festivals in India. It is a congregation of a multitude of enthusiastic and talented individuals, confluencing to compete for the highest laurels in cultural events on a national level. Simultaneously, INCIDENT presents over 96 hours of uninterrupted, adrenaline pumping action for those whose primary purpose is to unwind from the rigors of a strenuous routine.

INCIDENT is the annual cultural festival of the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK – former KREC). NITK is among the leading educational institutions of the nation. It also possesses an extensive, lush campus, and is the only one to be adorned with a private beach. With its sun-kissed shores and fine ambience, the beach is one of the prime locations on campus during INCIDENT.

Among the highlights of INCIDENT, ‘Encore’ is certainly one of the crown jewels. It is essentially the Pro-nite of the fest. With electric performances from hugely popular artists such as KK, Euphoria and Parikrama, the Pro-nite has always attracted massive audiences. In 2009, coincidentally also the Golden Jubilee of NITK, INCIDENT promises to bring to the forefront, the true essence of a magnificent Pro-nite.

INCIDENT ’09 offers much more than just unadulterated entertainment. At the Pro DJ-Nite 09, team INCIDENT guarantees the best in ’mixed’ music in the form of DJs Nikhil Chinappa, Pearl, Leon and Inferno. The pulsating beats and rhythmic music ensure the making of a grand spectacle.

Besides these events, there are also opportunities for upcoming bands to perform on a national scale and showcase their potential. The Western Musical or ‘Pulse”, previously headlined by bands such as Galeej Gurus and Bhoomi, brings together budding musicians in a high intensity, resounding affair. Simultaneously, the Eastern Musical or ‘Bandish’ draws the most promising talents from the arena of Indian music. Mellifluous voices combine with inspiring melodies to create reverberating music on a night to remember.

The energy at INCIDENT reaches a crescendo at Slam Dunk and Promenade. Slam Dunk is a 4-day intercollegiate basketball extravaganza. Inviting participation from teams across the country, Slam Dunk is among the most immense exhibitions of sporting prowess. Promenade, the Group Dance competition, is a celebration of the most exquisite dance talents, adjudicated in the solo, duet and group dance categories.

INCIDENT ’09 also showcases the most happening trends within the fashion industry, courtesy Haute Couture, the Fashion Show. Concurrently, Mr. and Ms. Incident brings out the best in spontaneity, creativity and flamboyance in a truly ornate personality contest.

The enthusiasm and freshness at INCIDENT can be noticed most plainly at the Beach Events. Highlighted by Sandemonium, a game-based contest characterized by fun and frolic, the Beach Events always appeal to all sections of the participants at INCIDENT. Also organized are events such as War of DJs and Beach Sports, large crowd-pullers in their own right.

An attendance of over 6000 participants from close to 150 institutions across the nation is one among the many reasons that make INCIDENT what it is. With enormous amounts (to the tune of several lakhs) being offered as prize money and an immense stress on the highest quality of events, INCIDENT ensures that every participant takes home a truly rejuvenating and memorable experience.

Alumni have always been deeply involved with INCIDENT at the organizational level through generous contributions and invaluable suggestions; and this year, Team Incident invites all alumni to associate with it in the biggest way possible as a special tribute towards NITK’s Golden Jubilee. Corporate Sector firms and Governmental Organizations have been our biggest supporters. They have continually encouraged us and we look forward to their wholehearted support. Preparations are approaching the zenith and Team Incident is well on its way to stamping its mark in the hearts of people. Come February 2009, India will witness over 96 hours of exhilarating fun commencing Feb 25th through to March 1st. INCIDENT welcomes all to attend, participate and experience a feeling of euphoria ! INCIDENT 09 guarantees to leave you "Beyond Expression"!
