Mangalore, Nov 20: The foundation laying ceremony for the Canara CBSE School, was held at T V Raman Pai Convention Centre on Wednesday November 19. It also marks the 118th birth anniversary of founder Ammembala Subba Rao

Addressing the gathering, chief guest Dayanand Pai, philanthropist and alumnus, said that Ammembala Subba Rao uplifted the entire Gowda Saraswat Brahmin community with the Canara group of institutions. Providing universal education is the only solution to the poverty in the world, Pai added.

Expressing anger at politicians, he said they never see the future of the nation and use social evils as stepping stones to gain power. He emphasized, ‘We must introduce English education to the children but not English culture. We should not allow an alien culture to grab the space of Indian culture in the institutions’.

MLA Yogish Bhat announced a project of Rs 80 lac for the betterment of roads in the city within three months. He also announced a Rs 100 crore drinking water project to be completed by January. Madhava Bhandary, president, Mangalore Urban Development Authority, Vimala Pai, Mohandas Nayak, and Ganesh Rao were present. Gold medals were presented to SSLC toppers of Canara Institutions on the occasion.

Its well said by Dayanand Pai, that Ammembala Subba Rao Pai has uplifted the entire Gowda Saraswat Brahmin community with the Canara group of institutions.I am recalling the moments of the Founders Day function and the my service in their institution (2001-2004) which is really worth. The Management of Canara High School Association is really very professional, dynamic, and they have the humanitarian values and sympathy too. My best wishes to all the members including Shri Panchamal Gopalkrishna Shenoy, Dr.Mohandas Pai, Shri.Annappa Pai and Shri Ganesh Rao. Good luck sir.
