Udupi: India will be Ranked Third Strongest Economy Soon—Gurucharan Das

Udupi, Nov 23: The convocation ceremony of Manipal University for 2008, was held at the varsity on Saturday November 22. Ramachandra Gowda, minister, medical education was the chief guest.
India is the fourth economically strongest country in the world, and will be placed at the third position in 2012-2014. One crore people become free from poverty every year, said Gurucharan Das, management consultant, in his speech. The GDP level of Indian products progressed to six percent in 22 years, but in the recent four and a half years, the progress has increased to nine percent. Apart from that, there is decrease in population, he said.
Dr Ramdas M Pai, chancellor, Manipal University, inaugurated the convocation ceremony. Dr H S Ballal, pro-chancellor, Manipal University, welcomed the gathering. Dr Warrier, vice-chancellor, Manipal University, delivered the keynote address on the occasion.
Dr Vinod Bhat, registrar, international programmes, released ‘Manipal Link’, an in-house magazine. Dr Shripati Rao, dean, KMC, Manipal, and S S Pabla, pro-vice-chancellor, introduced the guest. Dr S Narayana S Rao, controller of examinations, administered the oath to the graduates. Dr Pushpa Kini, director, student affairs, announced the winners’ list.
Dr C V Raghuveer, dean, KMC Mangalore, proposed the vote of thanks. Dr K M Kariappa and Dr Keertilata Pai compered the programme.
