Dubai, Nov 11: Kanara Entrepreneurs Ltd. (KEL) are pleased to announce their next session – ‘Impact of the subprime (financial) crisis’ open to all interested in understanding the impact of the subprime crisis that has hit the global economy. The current financial crisis perhaps the worst since World War II, has already taken with it some of the world’s leading banks and already some smaller countries are close to bankruptcy.  Wealth has just eroded in matter of days for both the super rich as well as the common man. 

This event is of particular use to those who wish to understand the subprime crisis in a layman’s language and answers to basics such as what is subprime, how did it happen, who are the players, the current status, and its impact especially on countries such as India and UAE. During this session, the speaker will share his experience on this subject and provide us with some tips on do’s and don’ts during this critical period.

Suresh Kumar has been a member of the senior Management of Emirates Bank Group since 1989 and, prior to that, had held senior treasury and general management positions in a Government of Dubai project and in the banking sector in India, in the U.K. and in the U.S (West Coast). 
He has been the Chief Executive Officer of Emirates Financial Services PSC; since helping to establish it in October 1997 as a successor to Emirates Merchant Bank Ltd (also incorporated by him as an offshore entity in 1991).

More recently, he has assumed the role of a Chief Mentor and Group Director in Emirates NBD; with responsibilities for a number of organic and inorganic initiatives.

Sanjay Uppal is the Group Chief Financial Officer at Emirates NBD, the financial services group formed with the merger of two of the largest banks in the Middle East, Emirates Bank & National Bank of Dubai, in October 2007. Emirates NBD is the largest Banking Group by assets in the Middle East with total assets of US$ 75 bn.


He is also a Director on the Board of NBD Investment Bank based at the Dubai International Financial Centre.
