Mangalore, Dec 2: Parents of the students of Government Junior Technical School, Kadri Hills laid a siege to school protesting against drunken principal on Monday December 1.
District in-charge minister J Krishna Palemar paid a visit to the school following complaint received by the parents against principal T Subbaiah, accusing him of coming to the school in a drunken state for past several months.
Palemar took principal to task and later he was taken to the Wenlock Hospital for medical test. Meanwhile, he admitted that he was drunk when he reported to school.
Palemar said that he will direct to the Education Department to suspend Subbaiah within a week. Protesters said that they have been complaining about the lack of facilities in the school for last three years to the officials and other political leaders. But every concerned official seems to have turned a deaf ear to them, they accused.
Parents also brought to the notice of the minister that principal has managed to transfer the science teacher to some other place, using influence. Owing to these, about 125 students who are studying in the technical school are without a science teacher. "Hence, I will have to look into this matter too," he added.
