Mangalore: Bahrain Kannada Sangha to Set up Rs 10-crore Cultural Centre

Mangalore, Dec 2: Bahrain Kannada Sangha will set up a Cultural Centre of its own in Bahrain within the next 18 months, said Austin Santhosh, president of Bahrain Kannada Sangha.

He was speaking at the press conference held at the Press Club here on Monday December 1.
He said that the centre will have a full-fledged library-cum-research centre, cultural hall and separate facilities for yakshagana, theatre and other art forms.
"The Centre will also have a business centre, which will help Karnataka businessmen coming to the gulf to conduct their trade. Chief minister B S Yeddyurappa has already announced an initial grant of Rs 1 crore for the project during his recent visit to Bahrain," he added.
Nudisiri award for Kannada Sangha Bahrain
Bahrain Kannada Sangha was recently presented with the prestigious Alva's Nudisiri-2008 award during for its contribution to Kannada culture and literature. The annual award instituted by Alva's Foundation was presented during the recently held edition of Alva's Nudisiri-2008 at Vidyagiri near Moodbidri.
