Modi terms minority reservation a betrayal of nation

Hyderabad, Dec 3 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said attempts to provide reservation to minorities amounted to betrayal of the nation and were an insult to framers of the Indian Constitution.

Addressing an election rally of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), he called for efforts to defeat any such move in order to protect the country's unity.

Hitting out at the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government for its move to increase reservation for minorities to 12 per cent, Modi said he was surprised how the power-hungry were pushing for religion-based quota for the sake of remaining power.

Pointing out that the issue of religion-based reservation was discussed in the Constituent Assembly, the Prime Minister said the great personalities decided against it in the interest of the country's unity.

Modi wondered from where the reservation for minorities would come when the Supreme Court had already fixed the upper limit of total reservation at 50 per cent.

"They will take away the rights of Dalits, STs and OBCs from backdoor. Will you allow this crime," he asked the participants in the rally held at L.B. Stadium.

Telangana Assembly had last year passed a resolution to increase reservation for minorities in jobs and education from 4 per cent to 12 per cent and the same was sent to the Central government.

The TRS had blamed Modi for the delay in implementing its poll promise made in 2014.

Modi also came down heavily on TRS, saying it destroyed Telangana the way Congress destroyed the nation.

Countering Congress President Rahul Gandhi's allegation that TRS was the 'B' team of BJP, Modi said TRS and Congress had common nature, character, thinking and policies, making them the natural allies.

The Prime Minister recalled that during the Karnataka Assembly elections, Rahul Gandhi used to the dub JD (S) as 'B' team of BJP but after the elections, his party formed the government with JD(S) to keep the BJP out of power.

Modi claimed that TRS and Congress had already started planning to prevent the BJP from coming to power in Telangana.

He described dynasty politics as a threat to the democracy.

He pointed out that barring BJP, all major parties in fray in Telangana elections were parties with dynasty politics and family rule. He said Congress, TRS, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) all were family-centric parties.

BJp wants to portray Muslims as if they are reason for others getting betrayed. But it is very clear that how much Muslims are benefited from reservations. It is very minimal. And you can experience that when you visit any of the government offices.

It was Mir Usman Ali Khan, the Nizam of Hyderabad, Who donated 5,000 kg of Gold to Indian Government when India was facing threat of attack from China after India- Pakistan war in 1965? . And your friend Yogi is spreading a lie that the Nizam ran away from India. Obviously he is also following the master of liers.

    @ David,

The Telangana Movement Founders Forum has officially recorded that Osman Ali’s donation of 10 tonnes of gold was at the time of the Indo-Pakistan war in 1965.

“The Nizamsagar dam was built by the Nizam and is today utilised by Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and also Maharashtra.

The Nizam contributed for the Banaras Hindu University.

The Royal Deccan Horse or the 9th Horse, a division in the Indian Army is the Nizam’s contribution to the Indian Army

The Hyderabad jewels which are with the Government of India are also a testimony of the Nizam’s love for India.

Which princely state in India has given their jewels to the Indian government?”

Now, what are things taken by Nizam as per your claim of give and take deal?

    @David,

You are also like bhakth whose brain doesn't take anything logical if explained.

Hyderabad was already part of INDIA by 1949. Nizam donated 5000 kg of Gold in 1965. Similarly welfare initiations by Nizam took place even after its amalgamation X(not X2) Indian territory.

As far as your comment that Hyderabad Nizam wanted to rule as other Pakistan, and you also said that Muslim rulers came to India to spread Islam; it is as similar as saying that Britishers looted and occupied INDIA to make it as another Vatican.

Secondly, It's quite natural that every ruler of those time wanted to rule individually beside coming under the rule of someone else. You, like other Bhakths are giving it communal colour.

PM is not for a party. He is for each every citizen of India. PM Should restrain using such terms in his speeches as world is watching his speech.

His speech will be a mirror of Nation. First he is PM then Modi and BJP.

He should boldly face the election on his poll promises of 2014. If he couldn't perform he can give reason and ask for one more term. If people trust him surely they will give another chance.

Using words against minorities in election rallies should have to be assigned to his party members.

PM Should not forget he got huge win in 2014 because of his poll promises based on developments, black money and corruption.

People rejected BJP in 2009 when they faced election based on Hindutva agendas.

We have GOOD PM with BAD QUALITY.

Reservation for minorities, Dalits, Tribals and economically weaker persons will remain in place until India free itself from the clutches of Cast based religion, politics, marriages and Indian culture of corruption.

Centuries together ancestors of minorities, Dalits, Tribals and economically weaker persons have suffered hell on earth with evil of untouchability, Dave Dasi system, Land less farming, discrimination at restaurants, hotels, public places, temples and the hands of Land Lords, Small regional Hindu Kings and High cast Hindu Brahmins.

Long Live reservation for minorities, Dalits, Tribals and economically weaker persons.

Lord Krishna was Kuruba God and Hanuman was Dalit & Tribal God and will help minorities, Dalits, Tribals and economically weaker persons to retain and get maximum reservation in Government jobs, Education & Health care institutions and public assistance.

When this person talks against Religion based reservation, why is he giving caste based reservation? What is the justification he has? The government sponsored Sachhar committee has made it clear that there is no other class of people which are more backward than Muslims. Muslims are more backward than even Dalits.

This illiterate talks about maximum 50% reservation fixed by Supreme court when it comes to reservation to Muslims. But in Maharashtra, when the total reservation of the state was already 52% , the BJp again passed 16% reservation to Marathas, taking it to whopping 68%. Why didn't he speak then?

Why this opportunist remembers the dignity of Supreme court only when it benefits him. Where was he when his people were openly going against Supreme court in Sabarimala case?

Immediately after becoming Chief Minister of Gujarat, This chor was the first person to put his wealthy Modh Ghanchi caste to backward class to take away the rights of Dalits, SC, ST, and OBC.

Now he is giving speech and releasing crocodile tears to get the votes. Hypocrisy at its peak.

(Modh is added to Ghanchi caste when they are wealthy. For example caste Mahatma Gandhi was Modh Baniya because he was wealthy among Baniya caste)

I have a simple question for PM Modi. Had he born in Dalith family, would he become a PM? Reservation is necessary as long as there is religious and caste bias is prevailing. The idea of democracy is inclusion of people from all walk of life. How many Christian Ministers in his cabinet? How many Daliths and how many Muslims?

Keeping politics aside the reservations for minorities or malority categories has really helped the families. In the 80's as a single mother my mother was earning around RS 300 per month. But I had the zeal to learn and achieve in life. Due to the minority low income group category I got admission in a prestigious engineering college. Most of fees were funded by govt scholarships & from the donations from near & dear ones. I successfully completed my engineering. I was interested to post graduation .but the family conditions prevented me from taking up post graduation. I joined for at the age of 20 years and my first salary was RS 1100 in 1986. Today I have grown up in my profession and financially sound to educate my children without any funding from government. Even the fees in private institutes for education of my children is completely funded by me. I do not expect government to employee them as there is a good private sector jobs. Similar is the case of many children from SC/ST, obc and many different categories. Please ask the Poor people in these categories whether they can afford UG & professional education without reservation. The PM talks about farmers. Does the govt provided any reservations to their children so that they can improve financially or support their children to continue as farmers. The rhetoric of appeasement if minorities & farmers is only a political gimmick to show false concern for the dying farming community. This game is being played by all the political parties.. As somebody had said " you can fool all the people for some time, some people for all the time, and not all the people all the time". Modi is trying to be in the second category all the time. It will be disastrous as we have seen in France what happened.
