President Agnel D'Silva welcomed the gathering. In his welcome speech he reiterated that the Association needs to reach out and help the needy people back home and requested all Good Samaritans to extend their support to 'Katpady Konkans' so that they can give what is best back to the society.
Secretary Agnel Rodrigues presented the brief report of Katpady Konkans where in he mentioned the achievements and the noble work done by Katpady Konkans in the past year.
The main attraction of the programme was the felicitation to Hilary Pinto of Al-Faris Group, who is the main patron of Katpady Konkans. Hilary Pinto, who is having a tremendous influence on the youth of Katpady, is instrumental in providing the daily bread to hundreds of families from Katpady. Recognizing his various social services to the community, 'Katpady Konkans' rightly honoured him. He was presented with a shawl, bouquet and a memento. Hilary Pinto’s wife Lorna Pinto and mother Lilly Pinto were also called on to the stage and honoured with bouquets.
All the sponsors and well-wishers were called on to the stage and honoured by “Katpady Konkans” for their continued support and encouragement.
One of the main aspects of the programme was the felicitation to the finalists of ‘Gulf Voice of Mangalore’ Donald Correa and Victoria Suares, the proud daughter-in-law of Katpady who was specially flown in from Muscat. Both Donald and Victoria thanked Katpady Konkans for their kind gesture.
Local band 'Shylon' led by Lancy Noronha and Carlo kept the audiences on their toes with some scintillating numbers.
A group dance 'Pappu Can’t Dance Saala’ from small kids Abil, Jenessa, Darron and Anlon was appreciated by one and all with a thunderous applause.
'Gumttam' from Karaval Milan team brought back the nostalgic memories of yester years among the audience.
The jam-packed audience enjoyed the day which was full of variety of programmes like skit from Roshan Vaz and Steven, dances from Lisha, Aaviola and Sweeny.
Arrival of Santa Claus sent the children on 'grabbing-spree' as they vied with each other to receive sweets and gifts from him. It was clearly the advent of Christmas which was welcomed by all with gusto.
Buffet lunch served by Dubai Grand Hotel was relished by all the guests. During lunch break 'Shylon' band entertained the crowd. After lunch break it was the time for Tulu comedy Drama 'AA-DA-Ma Cafe.' It was a complete laughter-riot for almost two hours. The spectators who were glued to their seats kept applauding the performance from talented actors from Katapady. Special mention needs to be made of Dominic Pinto, Lavina Fernandes and Arun Monteiro who presented a scintillating performance with natural flair. Although most of the actors were acting almost after a decade they did not leave a single inch of doubt regarding their absenteeism from stage.
Raffle draw was conducted and valuable prizes were distributed. Roophus D'Souza conducted American Housie while Agnel Rodrigues conducted the American Auction.
The entire programme was compered by UAE’s household Emcee Donald Correa. As usual he kept the audience busy with his jokes and innovative spot games. Attractive prizes were distributed to winners.
