Bangalore, Dec 9: Karnataka Regional Organization for Social Service popularly known as KROSS, celebrated its silver jubilee on Monday December 8. The programme started with the thanksgiving holy Eucharistic celebration by Bishop Gerald Lobo of Shimoga and vice-president of Kross at St Joseph’s Boys’ High School Chapel, Museum Road, Bangalore.

It was followed by a public function at the auditorium on the same premises and a fellowship meal. Archbishop Bernard Moras of Bangalore and president of Kross, presided over the function.

Dr L Shanthakumari Sunder IAS, additional chief secretary, development commissioner and agricultural production commissioner, Government of Karnataka, who was the chief guest of the function, in her address said that NGOs and religious organizations serve with a lot of courage and inner urge. She recalled the teachings of Christ about loving one’s brethren. Dr Sunder congratulated KROSS for its 25 years of dedicated service to the poor and wished it good luck in all future endeavours.

Archbishop Moras in his presidential address praised KROSS for being a model organization. He said Fr Becket had put in a lot of hard work to elevate this organization which had helped so many over the years.

As Chitaranjan, joint secretary to chief minister Yeddyurappa, released the book called ‘Uttama Aalvike’ which means ‘Good Governance’, Rita Noronha gave a commentary about it. Bishop Gerald Lobo released the souvenir.

Past presidents and directors of KROSS were felicitated on the occasion. There was also sharing of case studies by people whom KROSS has helped.

The audience was engrossed in the power point presentation which narrated the history of KROSS in brief, spreading the message ‘Desha Seveye Eesha Seve’. Fr Peter Brank proposed the vote of thanks while Fr Faustine Lobo compered the programme.

Any celebration is the culmination or mile stones of achievements and you have every right to do it. A report of good works done during this period will inspire others to do the same for humanity. Anyway, my hearty congratulations to all who worked hard during the last 25 years. God bless you all.

Congratulations to KROSS and specially to Fr.Becket for his yeoman service to humanity and whom I always associate with KROSS, and with whom I had the opportunity of working while he was in ODP, Mysore, training his cadres. While reading the article I looked for at least a summary of what KROSS is doing and has achieved. But instead I scrolled down a whole gallery of photos mainly a galaxy of Bishops and Priests! I do not want to devalue your article Jessie Rodrigues. After all you were reporting on KROSS’ 'celebration' of its 25th year and not on its 'dedicated service'. Could an interested one like me get a copy of the Report??
