Bangalore cops detain 110 party-goers

Bangalore, Mar 8: As many as 110 persons, including 39 foreigners, were arrested early on Sunday from a village farmhouse in Ramanagara district, where liquor was being served without license, police said.

The arrested included 22 women, three from overseas, a senior police official said.

They are thought to be part of a social networking group coming from countries such as Yemen, Iran, Sudan, Germany and France.

"Mobile SMS and internet messages were used to assemble the crowd", police said. The key man behind organising the party, Adam, was being interrogated.

Police were categorical that drugs were not used at the party and would not call it a "rave party". But liquor was in "full-flow" and the music was at a high pitch with the group "dancing-away".

Ramanagara police raided the premises at Chunchanakuppe near Dodda Aaaladamara, some 25 kms from Bangalore, at around 4 a.m.

Please be conscious of the law and the spirit of the law Shobha. If there was a complaint the Police are absolutely right in stopping the Party. They have overstepped their limit in addressing the Party Goers. This is a clear case of Police Harassment. If anyone is liable to be arrested it's only the organisers of the Party.

Why dont the police arrest those people who drink in their vehicles parked near the beach or in an isolated place. Why dont the police raid  places where people go for a picnic to a park/beach or a historic places, and many of them carrying liquor?

What a big catch. The small frys are caught, but the deadly Sharks still roam the streets of India creating problems for the innocent people. By showing these girls and boys caught by the Police, are the Police trying to prove that they are Super Cops. These people have not done anything wrong and they are not terrorist, they only had a night party in the Farmhouse which is quite far off from the city. Where were you great police when our country was invaded by Pakistani Terrorist, sleeping or awake? Leave these innocent boys and girls immediately instead of keeping them behind bars. Act now and start catching Terrorists and Criminals.

This government opened the door for criminal minded people to indulge in illegal activities by trying to control night life in Bangalore. Some government advisors come up with foolish ideas of banning night life/live music and end up in illegal form of business which accumulates enormous unaccounted money and corruption.

I am not a supporter of night life rather I would suggest applying very high % tax for those operate after 23:00 hrs, which not only reduces the night life but will earns huge revenue for state government.

Rightly said Mr. Padmanabha Shenoy. Karnataka a state once so peaceful, today has become a hell. Seems these gundas in the guise of POLICE FORCE have nothing better to do these days. What with the POLITICIANS having their own escorts and bandoobast, poor Police Dept is going dry, so they turn around and start their stunts on innocents. Huh, liquor license in Karnataka, what a joke, we are in the 21st century, not idiots anymore.

Do all those out there - politicians, bollyhood blokes, industrialists, the list can go on have their license when they are merry making in KSA stadium, and other distant farm houses or even in their own bungalows???

Come on Mr. Yediyurappa and your team, please stop this sort of harassments on the innocent. How many more such things are on the list, please let the public know so that they can plan and prepare themselves accordingly. Live and let others too live in peace. India is a free country, don't turn it to hell plz...

So many murders and other crimes happening and the police are unable to control those things and they got all the time in the world to lay thier hands on such trivial issues which hardly matters when it comes to a party such as they raided was held in a farm house. Are we loosing our rights and freedom???

What was wrong with this party? They were only serving liquor. The police and the media have hyped this incident. I know many politicians who arrange parties and serve liquor during these parties. Who will arrest these?  The police are downright corrupt and does not dare to arrest such politicians.

As we know next to Sales Tax. Second highest revenue Collection is made through State excise. Thus, revenue earned Through consumption or sale of alcohol indicates that rate of alcohol consumption is very high in Karnataka. Since The State banned the Gadang Culture, (Thotte packing), the revenue must have shot up .

The labor class who always consumed the poly bag packing is now forced to buy the bottles that are expensive and generate more income to the Government. There is no check on sales and its network, but why the police are busy in interfering in private parties.

They could have warned or asked to close the party and le them go. No doubt the police want to be famous by these petty acts and be in news.

I sincerly hope that the police leave the young generation alone. There is no harm if they enjoy some good times once in a while. On the brighter side, it was the police and not Ram Sena who interfered.

Is it necessary to arrest people having a bit of fun/party after a hard week? Most of these people probably not even know that the organizer had no license nor do they intend to create any trouble. I find it weird that girls have been paraded and photographed with the help of police.

It appears that our police are very enthusiastic in gate crashing into harmless private parties and playing spoilsports. From when has drinking and dancing in private places become such a major crime in Karnataka? Wish they would show the same enthusiasm in apprehending terrorists, criminals and other anti social elements, which are the real threats to law, order and a peaceful society.
