Mumbai: St Joseph’s Konkani Welfare Association Mira Road hosts 'Konkani Talent Competition 2019'

Mumbai, Aug 19: St Joseph’s Konkani Welfare Association, Mira Road® on August 18 organised 'Konkani Talent Competition' at St Joseph’s Church hall, in preparation for Konkani Manyata divas and Monti Fest which will be celebrated on September 8.

The competition were held in elocution, singing, dance, Kavita recital and vovyo-verse categories. This competition was held for Konkani speaking parishioners of St Joseph’s Church Mira Road.

Well known Konkani writer/poet and critic, Valley Quadros; famous Konkani actor Gregory Sequira Niddodi and Konkani leader Veronica were the judges.



With blessings of Fr Melwyn D’Cunha, OCD, spiritual director of the association and parish priest, association president John Crasta and secretary Jerald D'Souza inaugurated the competition with a prayer.

After the competition, judges praised the participants, guiding them to improve further. “We are privileged to see such great Konkani talent on Mira Road,” said Valley Quadros.

Gregory said, “Konkani has a great future ahead,” and congratulated all the participants.

“Do not ignore such opportunities to showcase your talents,” advised Veronica to the participants.

The prizes were announced at the end and the prize winners will be felicitated on September 8 on the occasion of Konkani Manyata Divas and Monti fest celebration.

The programme was compered by Henry Sequeira vice president of the association.
