Panaji, Jun 13: Panaji municipal market complex will open for a short time on Saturday and Sunday for vendors to sell perishable goods. The complex had been shut following precautionary measure after a liquor vendor tested positive for the coronavirus.
The complex was to stay closed until Monday. However, due to the short shelf life of mangoes and other perishable items, the Corporation of the City of Panaji allowed the complex to stay open from 7 am to 12 noon. Meanwhile, they also ordered only one gate of the building to remain open.
“We understand the plight of vendors, and we are giving them this duration to sell their items," Mayor Uday Madkaikar said.
Meanwhile, Vendors from Chimbel have been asked to produce the COVID-19 negative certificate issued to them by the health department, along with their ID and address proof.
