Mangalore, Mar 26: “The anti-cow slaughter law passed by the state government is a good move and is well-appreciated by the minority communities of the state. It is for the protection of cows as it is holy besides being helpful to farmers”, said Franklin Monteiro, president, District Minority Morcha of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Speaking at a press meet at the BJP district office in the city on Thursday March 25, he said that the law was opposed by only a handful of people, supported by the so-called secular parties.

“The citizens of the state have appreciated the move by the government to protect the cows. Dalits and minority members of the society have especially welcomed it”, he said.

“Congress leader B Janardhana Poojary and Veerappa Moily claimed that the law is against the Dalit community. It is an anti-Dalit statement, so Poojary and Moily should apologize for their statement”, added Monteiro.

He asked all the communities to support the anti-cow slaughter bill without political affiliations as it is needed for a nation which respects the cow as god.

    This is an brave step
There is no second openion that it is right or wrong because we shoul first of all respect our culture, our mother land.
Wether we worship cow or not that is secondary
What is our culture we have given so much importance for the cow.
See the use how it is so closely or impotant for our daily life.
We shoul thank who ever responsible for this.

I very sincerely call upon my actual neighbour Mr Holla to respond and rebut my statement. The Holla who responded here is a fake one as I can make out from his statement. Secondly there are many of my hindu and muslim neighbours who witnessed this incident who will surely vouch for my statement.

For the public and press, about police complaint as stated by this proxy Holla, they can call Udupi Police Station on (0820) 2520444 to check and verify the arrest or this complaint. Please go ahead and do it now. I once again ask real Mr Holla to respond to my comments. If any one wants further authentication about my statement, which happened in the past, I shall give the phone nos of owner of the cow and persons involved in the brawl.

Thank u daiji for letting us read both the versions from Shahnawaz & R. Holla. If Holla hadn't done it then he would've published the thing done by shahnawaz first on this forum-'cos all Hindutva people are waiting (for him) to malign his name. But Shahnawaz seems to be on the right side of the law this time. Otherwise the police would've made the whole issue public by now if his son was arrested as R Holla claims. Please stop these personal attacks atleast on this forum-wash your dirty linen in your own backyard.

I see in few of ur comments
your neighbour is highlight of the topic, i guess its a fake story., just to make ur comments appealing..

I feel minorities are poor people who dont have food to eat and not muslims or christian . U say u r not secular but ur comments says everything..

Actually which religion terrorise the whole world knows it afganistan , pakistan , iraq are already paying for thier acts...

I think a bill should be passed to protect all the animals not only cow..

we people speak about enviornment all those stuffs, when we cant protect the enviornment (trees , animals) then we will not be able to save this world.

No one has given us the RIGHT to destroy the things which is created by god.

@shahnawaz - Just wanted to clarify couple of things here regarding shahnawaz comments. First of all it wa not me who hurt the pregnant cow but shahnawaz himself. He just came from dubai for a vacation and see this cow wandering in the road. He and his son and some relatives goes out and try to drag the cow inside their compound. Meantime his son has a sickle and he try to chop the cow's leg and that's when the cow started mooing. We all came out(i am actually 5 houses across) and seeing the bleeding animal we took shahnawaz to task and questioned him. Mean time some of his neighbours had seen the whole thing and they called police who came and arrested his son and took the cow to a hospital..right now shahnawaz has gone hiding fearing the wrath of RSS/BD

Every word Mr. Shahnawaz Kukkikatte says it true! Why is BJP unconcerned about the backlash it receives from the Minorities regarding its anti-Minority policies? Because this party believes in enticing one specimen from the Minority community with wealth and power and uses him as a puppet on a string to mouth the word that its masters utter! And the poor puppet like the Muslim face of BJP, truly believes that HE is on his way to power and riches! How foolish can one get? In India the 'Divide and Rule' policy has been used from ancient times. And ONE CHRISTIAN or MUSLIM DOES NOT represent all community. It is a strtegy by that one disgruntled element from the community either to get into limelight, which he never hopes to get otherwise or to get back at members of his parent community which he cannot do otherwise!!
Do not get me wrong! Some of us Christians voted for aBJP candidate in one election becaus e the Congress candidate( the party we normally vote for ) was CORRUPT beyond limit. In comparison this BJP candidate was people-friendly, with a good track record of service to all, kept away from any persecution of Minorities....like some said" a right person in the wrong party" ! But we need to have a clear perception and differentiate between the party's riff-raff persecuting Minorities and the sane elements in the party disownng the fringe groups and their activites.... have you ever heard the BJP top brass endorsing Violenc eagainst Minorities?NO?

Mr Montorio only represents BJP and not christians and other minorities. He is not the representative of dalits. He is an undercover agent of BJP who has sold himself. His statement has no value or appeal. He is just making irresponsible statement only to create controversy and stay in limelight. Mr Monterio, can you please tell me are you eating beef. I think your parents too must have fed you beef dishes. I have seen a brahmin neighbour of mine, who performs daily pooja, circumblates tulasi, chants vedic mantras daily morning, has chooped of the leg of a pregnant cow. The offence is it has grazed inside his compound. I heard the yelling sound of cow and ran out of my house only to find the bleeding cow in pain. I questioned him, why he is so cruel to the dumb animal and he is supposed to worship it, he told me "sahebre, dana shastriya devaru aadare vastyavadalli adu ondu prani, nanna garden thinda pranige nanu shikshe koduthene. After some time there was a fight between the owner of the cow and this bhat. (Raghavendra Holla). The cow slaughter ban is nothing but political hindutva and not actual hindutva. With the help of this ban, sangh parivar wants to terrorise and touble muslims, christians and dalits of this state. A murderer gets punishment of 2-4 years with Rs 2-3000 fine. But a fine of Rs 50000 and 7 years jail for consuming beef. Just look at the motive. I am sure we may have to build new jails to accommodate offenders who are mostly from major community.Disgusting
