Mangalore, Jun 7: The book release of ‘Role of Lord Krishna in Mahabharata’, authored by M Ranganath Pai, was held at SDM College in the city on Sunday June 6.
Union law minister M Veerappa Moily was the chief guest at the programme and released the book. Swami Poornakamananda, president, Sri Ramakrishna Math, Mangalore, presided over the function.
The author has previously translated the Bhagavad Geetha into Konkani and recorded it into cassettes besides translating many hymns. The book consists of 450 pages and is written in English by the author.
San Bun Publishers assisted in the publishing of the book and the author’s wife Sumana Ranga Pai was his inspiration.
Speaking to the audience, Ranganath Pai said that the book release is due to the grace of God and the first inspiration for it was his father who had written ‘Puranas’ which the author read later and it became a knowledge bank for this book.
He said that the book tells us about how Lord Krishna wanted to destroy the ‘Kshatriyas’ (proctors of law and justice) and used his wits to create war between the Kauravas and Pandavas which would end the rule of kings for that period.
Moily said that great books should be read in the right way by opening the doors for creativity and developmental thoughts. He said that reading these books will help us to solve the problems we are facing in our society currently.
Moily also threw light on the book written by him ‘Sri Ramayana Anveshanam’, which was written with scientific analysis and virtual analysis which will help the youngsters face the present problems easily.
Swami Poornakamananda said that people have become selfish and we have forgotten our values which are very important in Indian culture. He said that this culture can be understood by reading Ramayana and Mahabharata.
Venkatesh Pai, son of the author, gave the vote of thanks and said the book was successful for his father worked on it waking at 4 am everyday.
