Udupi, Feb 21: ‘Momentum - The Science of Studies’, a book by renowned writer Vincent D'Sa was released on Sunday February 21 at St John The Evangelist Church hall, Shankerpura. Clara Mendonca, teacher and Evelyn D'Sa, mother of Vincent D'Sa launched the part-1 of the book.
Speaking about the book, Vincent D'Sa said, "I used to teach the children of different nationalities during my work period abroad. I never taught the children Mathematics or Science as a subject, but I encouraged them to understand the concepts. Our education module has not even changed even after 35 years. This book can be considered as a Bible to science students. A lot of study material is available on Youtube and Google, but the authenticity of these materials is unknown. The book deals with skills to study Mathematics, Science, Physics and Chemistry which are not a part of school
curriculum along with philosophy of nature, mystery of daily life, investigative approach, the correlative (associative) approach and questioning the question. This is a book designed to make learning simple, meaningful and permanent,” he said.
The book will be sold through the publisher's own sales team comprising financially disadvantaged youth to provide livelihood and job.
Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves, parish priest said, "Literature is a treasure. Through the tool of literature, Vincent D'sa has tried to spread knowledge and his experience. This sort of literature should have been launched in a big city but due to the writer’s attachment with Shankerpura, he has launched it here. In this book, the writer says that curiosity is the motive for all progress. We can achieve things creatively only because of curiosity.”
Clara Mendonca, teacher said, "Today I am part of a unique programme. Vincent had faced many difficulties in his life. He was an intelligent student during his schooling here. Let many more book be written by him.”
John Rodrigues, vice president, parish pastoral committee, Shankerpura, and Anita D'Souza, secretary were present. Wilfred R Pangla compered the programme.
The book was the first production of the ‘Iempact Foundation’. The foundation is a psychological, NLP and counseling-based academic setup started with the aim of providing quality education and skills to the underprivileged and economically backward section of the society. Lack of money and guidance should not be a reason for them not accessing world-class educational techniques. It has adapted one district each in Rajasthan and Punjab, which is academically backward, in the process of finalizing one academically backward district in Karnataka state (Raichur/Chitradurga) to provide world-class learning techniques and bring up the literacy level through a rational and scientific learning approach. Providing world-class teaching skills to the teachers of this district is a part of this charity programme.
The team comprises personnel from a highly competitive work culture like an air traffic controller, life coach, project manager and IITian.
This foundation aims to provide NLP studies to the economically weaker section of the society, which is not reachable for them due to its high costs.
