Mumbai, Aug 11: The metro-based Sri Krishna Vittal Pratishtan, a social service organization organized distribution of scholarship for the economically backward students at a programme held at Municipal Kannada School, DNA Nagar, Andheri (West) here, recently.
The pratishtan president Vidwan Karabettu Vishwanath Bhat presided. Senior litterateur and education expert Dr K Sanjeev Shetty was the chief guest. Bhujanga M Shetty and metro-published Karnataka Malla, Kannada daily editor Chandrashekar Palettady were the guests of honour.
Scholarship of over Rs 2 lac was distributed to the economically-backward students on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr K Sanjeev Shetty said that the need of the hour is to develop syllabus based on real life experiences. The education should not become a yardstick to get employment, instead it should shape better future for an individual with necessary skills on human relations, he said.
Chandrashekar Palettady called on social welfare organizations to support the cause of literacy among the rural citizens, which would enable India surge ahead in every field.
Pratishtan trustees K Sadanand Upadhyaya, Gopal S Putran, Kadandale Ramesh Shetty, Suresh Shet, Bhaskar Sarapady and Ganesh Kumar Borivali, Harry R Sequeira, Pratishtan women wing executive president Sunanda Upadhyaya, teachers Varijakshi Udyavar, Shobha Udyavar, Aditi Gokarna, S Hiremat, Judith D’Souza and Jagdish Koli among others were present.
Pratistan trustee Suma V Bhat welcomed the gathering. Secretary Harish S Shetty proposed vote of thanks. Ashok Shetty compered the programme.
