Udupi: MLA Raghupathi Bhat has fell short of people's expectations - Oppn leader Ramesh Kanchan

Udupi, May 12: “People are facing acute problems due to the second wave of coronavirus. They have elected you with great expectations,” said municipal council Opposition leader Ramesh Kanchan directing his statement to MLA Raghupathi Bhat.

“Hospitals in Udupi are overcrowded with Covid patients. Even patients who are critically ill are not getting ventilators and ICU facilities. The lives of the people are only at the mercy of God under MLA Bhat's administration."

“People are eager to get vaccinated but they are not available at centres. Those who are above 45 years of age and have received the first dose, they are unable to get the second dose of vaccination. Most of them who are senior citizens visit the vaccination centres several times and are returning without vaccination, due to the lack of availability."

“People who had received the first dose are unable to get the second dose. Only Covishield is available at present. There is only an online system for vaccination and people are having trouble manoeuvring through it. Vaccinations for people between 18 and 44 years has begun and online booking is difficult to comprehend. The vaccine slots show booked before it appears as available. Though the slots on the website are indicated as booked, the Aarogya Setu app shows as available."

“Though ordinary people wait in the queue after obtaining the token, influential persons are obtaining vaccination without a token using their political clout," he said.

“On the whole, the process of vaccination has become confusing. As an MLA of the constituency, he should realize his responsibility. He should visit the vaccination centres and solve the issues,” said Ramesh Kanchan.
