Mangalore: Palemar Advises Sand Dealers to Maintain Transparency

Mangalore, Aug 25: Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, Krishna J Palemar, urged those involved with sand business, to equip their trucks with global positioning system (GPS) without any exception, and conduct business transparently, and not to get involved with clandestine business deals.

He was speaking after taking part in the inaugural ceremony of Dakshina Kannada Sand Contractors and Sand Boat Operators, Workers and Building Materials Transporters’ Joint Action Committee, and then presiding over a workshop on adopting GPS.

Bantwal MLA, B Ramanath Rai, who inaugurated the workshop, expressed himself in favour of fitting GPS to sand transportation trucks, as he said, it helps detect illegal sand transportation.

City police commissioner, Seemant Kumar Singh, released the identity cards. MLAs, K Abhaychandra Jain and U T Khader, city mayor, Rajani Dugganna and deputy director of mines and geology, Dr B S Ravindra, participated as chief guests.

Honorary president of the action committee, Haji A K Shekhabba Addoor, was president. President, Mayur Ullal, welcomed. General secretary, Rajaratna Sanil, proposed the vote of thanks. Advisor, B S Chandru, presented the programme.
