Mangalore: City-based Madhurataranga Celebrates Two Decades of Existence

Mangalore, Aug 26: The bi-decennial celebrations of Madhurataranga (Regd) were held in the city recently. Soulful singing of lyrics by Jagadish Shivapura, president of the organization, and rendering of the song, ‘Jai Bharata Jananiya Tanujate’ on keyboard by his disciple, Neha, provided an auspicious beginning to the programme.

K Lakshmi of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd, Rajeshwari Sooryakumar of Durga Jewellers, Jyti Dayanand from Abu Dhabi, Jyotika Jain and Vani Rangopal, inaugurated the programme by lighting the traditional lamp.

Karnataka Bank general manager, P Jairam Hande, presided. Ln Sudhakar Shetty and U Narayan of Narayanaguru Urban Cooperative Bank Ltd Udupi, B C Rao Shivapura, Manjunath Kudva, Vivekanand Puttur and V T Acharya were present.

Shivapura Award was presented to Ajekar Padmavati Sankayya Acharya couple, on the occasion of their stepping into the 36th year in the field of agriculture. Satish Suratkal (music), Ramesh K Kalladka, Srikant of Namma Kudla, Dhanapal Shettigar, and Anant Nayak Tekkatte were also presented with Shivapura award.

Titles were conferred on Harikrishna Punaroor (Karavalikannadakulatilaka), Bhuvanabhirama Udupa (Kalavidarakalaposhakaratna), Noel Almeida (Sanghatanachatura), M K Seetaram Kulal (Taulavasahityaratnakara), Christopher Mascarenhas (Rangatarangantarapravartaka), and Dinesh (Abhinayavisharada).

In the early part of the programme, Jagadish Shivapura and Poornima Ganesh redered lyrics beautifully. After the function, a programme tribute to Dr Rajkumar, titled ‘Nagunaguta Nali’, dances, devotional songs etc., were presented. S P Gurudas compered the programme.
