Mangaluru, Jun 23: A 46-year-old post-covid patient with tuberculosis and a renal transplant was diagnosed to have pulmonary mucormycosis (Black fungus lung) with mycotic aneurysm lung. This is a very rare presentation worldwide that leads to fatal complications.
A team of thoracic surgeons at All India India Institute of Medical Sciences, Raipur, India led by Dr Klein Dantis performed the lung resection on this complicated case on June 2. The patient recovered well and is leading a happy life. Dr Klein Dantis, also asserted, this is the first reported case following post-covid sequelae operated globally as well as nationally.
