Brahmavar: MLA elated at quashing of Brahmavar Planning Authority

Daijiworld Media Network - Brahmavar (SP)

Brahmavar, Jul 24: MLA, K Raghupathi Bhat had requested the state government to cancel the formation of Brahmavar Planning Authority as its formation has created administrative and technical problems for public works. The government has upheld his request and passed an order cancelling the authority.

The planning authority had been formed by declaring local planning area under Karnataka Urban and Rural Planning Act 1961 as the process of declaring Brahmavar as municipal aea was under way. Even though the process of declaring Brahmavar as municipality was kept on hold because of technical reasons, planning authority continued to exist. Therefore, the people of villages like Chantaru, Haradi, Varamaballi and Handadi panchayats were finding problems in issuing building licences, orders under rule 9 and 11 etc. Therefore, Bhat had written to the chief minister and the minister, seeking to cancel the authority till the formation of Brahmavar town municipality.

As Bhat followed up the matter by keeping in contact with the department officials and brought pressure, the government has issued an order dismantling Brahmavar planning authority.

Best move. Even municipality will be headache for villagers. Even though we pay more taxes, there will be no expected facilities. I found suffering of villagers in newly formed municipality. When villagers want to renovate their house, they have to first make conversion, then single layout, then apply online for construction. Again it will go to town planning for approval. If they have the village panchayat, village accountant and PDO are more helpful. Construction or renovation of their homes more easier under panchayats than muncipalities.
