Kuwait : UMK's 'Kasale Grahachar..' Enthrals Audience

Kuwait Oct 2: 'United Mangloreans Kuwait (UMK)’, a group of talented artistes under the leadership of Agnel Saldanha organized its most awaited show at American International School on Friday October 1 from 5.30 pm onwards.
The show comprised melodious songs, foot-tapping dances, mimicry and a hilarious Konkani comedy drama – ‘Kasale Graachar Saiba..!’ in aid of ‘Christraj Navachetana Special School’(for mentally-challenged) Venur.
The programme started with anchors of the day Doris Veena, Winnifred and Reyan Lobo formally welcoming the audience. The UMK members gathered on the stage by welcoming audience in a unique style with letters United Mangaloreans Kuwait and Welcome in hand.
Mind blowing songs ‘AmiMatheant Leepleli Tara’ (Konkani) and ‘O Radha’ Tulu) were sung by Nirmala, Andrea and Purandar Manchi. Foot-tapping dances ‘Aja Nachle’, ‘Ye Nari Ye’ and ‘Bollywood Fusion’ were performed by Nancy, Sudha, Dipti, Renwick, Vrinda, Veena, Rajesh, Nirmala, Lionel, Andrea, Joel, Josline, Samantha, Robin, Palma, Delma, Suzette, Favion, Mervyn, Iral and Irisha. Audience enjoyed Hindi Bollywood Mimicry art by Lionel and Joel.
During the felicitation chief guests Fr John Harry, Sathischandra Shetty and Dr Snehlata Goel along with Agnel Saldanha and Roque Lewis lit the traditional lamp. Nirmala Machado introduced main sponsor Dr Sneh lata Goel who was also was honoured with flower bouquets and memento by Fr John Harry.
Fr John Harry spoke few words appreciating the efforts of UMK towards a good cause. Daijiworld representative Wilson Saldanha, drama director Ronald D’Souza and dance choreographer Joel Pinto were honoured by flower bouquet.
A book ‘Vinchnar Vichar’ written by Paustine Pinto was released by Fr Harry, Fr Alban D’Souza, Pascal Pinto (co-sponsor) and Jerome Worli.
In his speech, Agnel Saldanha informed that after deducting all the expenses they can manage to give Rs 7.51 lac to ‘Christraj Navachetana Special School’ excluding the donation collected from the audience through donation box circulation. Vrinda Lewis thanked everyone who supported the noble cause.
The much-awaited drama ‘Kasale Graachar Saiba..!’ started with a big bang as expected. The team succeeded to tickle the ribs of the audience to its maximum. The artistes Avil Fernandes, Lucy Aranha, Agnel Saldanha, Kevin D’Souza, Edward D’Souza, Nancy Pinto, Lional Mascarenhas, Gladys Pinto, Kiran Lobo, Manoj Poojari and Mario Wilson gave their maximum to infuse life into the characters in the drama. The drama was written by Stan Ageira Mulki and directed by Ronald D'Souza Mulki. The brain behind the music, screenplay, direction and stage setting was Ronald D'Souza Mulki who was a real hidden talent till UMK’s last tulu drama “Mange Malpodchi”. Background scores were provided by Suneeth Noronha and background support by Sunil Mendonca. The choreography for dances was by Nancy Pinto, Andrea and Joel Pinto, make- up by Ajay Gosh whereas lights and sound was provided by Illuminations (Anand D’Souza).
When most of the major associations are struggling to organize programmes due to global melting and recession, it is highly appreciable that some individuals gathered together to put up a programme to help for a good cause and to the entire satisfaction of the audience.
