Bengaluru: Rs 3 crore fraudulent insurance claim - Wife of policyholder booked

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Feb 10: A private insurance company has realised with delay that the wife of a policyholder had falsely claimed that her husband died of heart attack with an eye on claiming the insurance amount of three crore rupees. The company has now filed a complaint against her.

P S Ganapathi, manager of the law department of the insurance firm, has complained to Koramangala police in this regard. The police have registered a first information report against Supriya Lakakula, a resident of Vittasandra.

Krishnaprasad Garalapatti (31), originally form Andhra Pradesh, had got an insurance policy for three crore rupees on his life online. He had named his wife, Supriya, as the nominee. Krishnaprasad had died on May 14, 2021. Supriya furnished documents to the insurance company certifying that her husband had died of heart attack. After due verification, a sum of Rs 3.2 crore was transferred to Supriya's bank account.

Later, a person named Ravi had contacted the insurance company and given a letter claiming that Krishnaprasad had died of cancer. He also said that when buying the insurance policy, Krishnaprasad had concealed the fact that he was suffering from cancer. He also said that Supriya had claimed the amount on the basis of fake documents.

The company which verified the facts stated in the letter, has filed a police complaint against the wife.

Ruling should be in favour of the widow. These insurance companies have made crores n crores of rs by looting the public. This is not a fraud case, let the widow stay in peace.

A life insurance of 3 crores and that too online !! I doubt, if Mr Garalapatti is indeed her real pathi. Seems like big conspiracy to claim the big booty in the name of dying person and share it among the others. Ravi did not get his due share I guess. Involvement of Insurance company staff also cannot be ruled out.

They knew that policy holder was having cancer but didn't disclosed. If they disclose then he wouldn't take policy and claim money now.

My sympathies with this young woman. The husband did it in order to secure his wife's future. Anyway, Insurance Companies make huge profits because majority of policies reach full maturity and the earnings from investments are huge. Consider this as an act of charity.

Already died. Cancer or heart attack. What is the difference. He is not alive. Let young widow live know. What benefit Ravi got by giving complaint.

Why did the insurance company not find out that. It is the fault of the Insurnce company. Whether Cancer or any ailment. He is dead and for his life she can claim. You need to understand that.

Why no medical done for the insured? Young or old medical should be there, not for the agents to achieve targets and get foreign trips. Mistake of the insurance company. By the way people of Andhrapradesh very smart in cheating anyone.

lolzzzz,,,dylan bhai...we are living in India...you are aware of the amount of corruption that is in our country...for an insurance agent, he has to somehow sell it and get his commission...they even have deal with the doctors to just say everything is okay...yeh sab common hai...one or two cases like this crop up out of say 100..otherwise this is not given that much importane...anyway chilll and enjoy your life...yeh sab cheezo mein mathapodi nahin karne ka.
