Mangaluru: Girl student attends class without hijab at University College after notice

Mangaluru, Jun 12: Out of the three Muslim girl students of University College in the city, who were served show cause notice by the principal for violating the rule against hijab, two students have given their explanation. One of them attended the class without hijab on Saturday. The third student has not given any reply to the notice.

As many as 15 students had refused to attend classes without wearing hijab. A chaotic situation had prevailed in the college due to this. Later, three girl students held a press conference. So the college had served a notice to them. Out of them, one attended the class without hijab.

Speaking to reporters, principal Dr Anusuya Rai said, “At present, evaluation of B Com papers is going on in the college. So the degree classes are being held online for 15 days. Only post-graduate classes are going on offline. On Saturday, only half day classes were there. Evaluation will continue on Monday also. So the degree students will be given classes online only. She also said that no complaint has been lodged by the college authorities regarding the untoward incident that occurred in the college on Friday.”
