Kundapur, Sep 17: An international coast cleaning campaign was set in motion at Kodi and Maravanthe on September 17 jointly by the department of tourism, clean Kundapur project, Kundapur municipal council Trasi, Maravanthe gram panchayat, Byndoor town panchayat, Seva Sangama trust, Rashtra Sevika Samiti Kundapur, Lions club Kundapur Amruthadhara, FSL India, Coast guard force, forest department and other local organizations

Plastic bottles, chappals and trash on the sea shores were picked to keep the area clean.

Regional director of the department of tourism Mohammed Farooq said that the call by Prime Minister Modi to clean the environment has created awareness all around and the voluntary involvement of local youth in an excellent development.

Forest department Kundapur assistant conservator of forests Dr Ashish Reddy said that the government has come forward for environment friendly programmes such as sea erosion.

Kundapur municipal council president Veena Bhaskar, coast guard Gangolli station officer Nanjappa team, Chakreshwari temple president Gopala Poojary, FSL president Rakesh Soans, Lions club Amratha president Saraswathi Putran, national Sevika samiti executive Prema Padiar, RSS’ Subramanya Holla, Lions club’s Eknath Bolar, Anudeep Hegde, Board high school’s NSS unit, Kodi Beary’s educational institute students, Anti-pollution drive organization and others took part in the programme.
