Mangaluru, Sep 18: The titular feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross was celebrated at Holy Cross Church, Cordel, Kulshekar on September 17 and 18, with great pomp and joy.
Vespers was celebrated with holy mass on Saturday, September 14, presided over by Dr Ivan D'Souza, professor of philosophy at St Joseph Inter-diocesan seminary and head of chair in Christianity, Mangalore University.
Mass was concelebrated by priests of Cordel parish and many guest priests. In the homily, Dr Ivan D'Souza highlighted the significance of the word of god in the lives of every believer.
The solemn feast mass was celebrated on Sunday, September 18 at 9 AM. It was presided over by Fr James D’Souza, parish priest of Vamanjoor and the vicar-vara of city deanery, and concelebrated by Fr Clifford Fernandes, the parish priest of Cordel, Fr Jovin Vishwas Sequeira, Fr Ivan Peter Cordeiro and other priests.
During the homily Fr James stressed on the importance of the Holy Cross in faithfuls' lives.
Later the entire community participated in the activities conducted by ICYM, YCS, women’s association and altar servers’ in their respective stalls.
