Mangaluru, Sep 20: Dakshina Kannada Congress minority cell held a silent protest on the premises of town hall here on Tuesday, September 20.

The protest was organized demanding the state government to provide equal justice in the murder cases of Masood, Praveen Nettaru, and Fazil in the police inquiry and distribution of compensation.

The protest commenced after Masood's mother and Fazil's father garlanded the statue of Dr B R Ambedkar statue in front of town hall.

Former minister B Ramanath Rai speaking to the media said, "Three deaths have taken place in the district. Stringent action should be taken against the murderers. Congress is holding this protest against the discrimination of the state government. In the district, when various governments were in power, several communal murders have taken place.

"Understanding the conspirators behind these murders is a very important thing. None of the Congress activists are involved in such violence, be it Hindu or Muslim. The public should not vote for the party of the murders. The conspirators behind these murders should be arrested.

“The government should form a Special Investigation Team (SIT). Only then the communal violence will end and harmony and peace in the district will be restored,” he said.

Umar Farook, father of Fazil said, "The police department has not filed a charge sheet in the case to the court. Moreover, one of the accused is out on bail".

The mother of Masood too spoke to the media and demanded justice for her late son.

Former MLA J R Lobo said that the government should give equal justice to all the three families.

Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee (DCC) minority cell president Shahul Hameed, Congress leaders Abhayachandra Jain, Mithun Rai, Suresh Ballal, B H Khader, Ibrahim Kodijal, Shashidar Hegde, Mamatha Gatti, Purushotham Chitrapur and others were present.
