Mangaluru: Sexual harassment on minor girl student – Accused sentenced to three years imprisonment

Mangaluru, Sep 24: Additional district and sessions (POCSO) FTSC-1 court of the city sentenced an accused in sexual harassment of a minor girl student to three years in prison.

Padmanabha, resident of Kokkada is the convicted accused. On August 17, 2019, a minor girl student was returning home after school along with her classmate. After her classmate went home, Padmanabha waylaid the minor girl and outraged her modesty by pulling her hand with the intention of having physical relation with her. The victim managed to escape from the accused and ran towards her classmates house and informed the matter to her father.

Convict Padmanabha barged into the home of the classmate of the victim and abused her father with profanity. A case in this connection was registered in Dharmasthala police station. Chargesheet was filed by ASI Chandrashekhar.

Justice Manjula Itti, who conducted the inquiry of the case sentenced accused Padmanabha to three years of simple imprisonment and fine of Rs 500 and one year as per IPC 341. In addition, the judge order to provide compensation to the victim minor girl. Special public prosecurot Sahana Devi argued for the prosecution.
