Udupi: Assault on local residents – Atradi gram panchayat vice president gets anticipatory bail

Udupi, Sep 24: Recently a video had gone viral on social media, in which verbal friction and fist fight occurred between Atradi gram panchayat vice president and local residents could be seen over concretization of road. FIR was lodged in Hiriyadka police station on vice president Ratnakar Shetty Pareeka and two others in this connection. Justic Shantaveera Shivappa of Udupi chief district and sessions court granted anticipatory bail to Ratnakara Shetty on Thursday.

FIR was filed at Hiriyadka police station on September 5 on vice president of Atradi gram panchayat Ratnakar Shetty and local residents Chandrahasa Shetty and Santhosh Poojary accusing them of assaulting local resident Arati Suresh Shetty on the issue of concretization of the road.

The incident was video recorded on mobile and went viral throughout the state. The clarification given by Ratnakar Shetty to a news channel over the incident had also gone viral.

Atradi Prithviraja Hegde argued for Ratnakara Shetty.
