Mangaluru: Mission Sunday observed at Holy Family Church, Omzoor

Mangaluru, Oct 24: Mission Sunday was observed at Holy Family Church, Omzoor on October 16.

Parishioners came together and joined hands in preparing the pork bafat and breakfast on the previous day. On the day of the celebration, Holy Eucharistic mass was held at 7:30 AM. Over 500 devotees celebrated the mass. After the mass, Parishioners were served breakfast, followed by an auction.

Games were conducted by ICYM and YCS members.

Cooked pork was packed and distributed along with Ice-creams to parishioners with coupons. People participated with enthusiasm in the auction. The auction included a goat, roosters and offerings made during the holy mass such as coconuts, vegetables. The goat was auctioned (American Auction) for a whopping Rs 2.74 Lacs, being the record bid in the history of Omzoor.

The day was celebrated under the leadership of parish priest Fr Alwyn D’Cunha. Commission for Proclamation, Evangelization and Commission for Social Development took overall responsibility and were assisted by Sthree Sanghatans, Catholic Sabha and Society of St Vincent Paul.

The emcee for the day was Roshan Monteiro and the auctioneer was Elroy Saldanha.

A spirit of mission was seen among the parishioners. All the ward gurkars and parish associations played a pivotal role in organizing mission Sunday meticulously and make this a a successful one.
