Mangaluru: Yenepoya hosts programme on quality laboratory standards

Mangaluru, Oct 5: The Certificate Programme in Quality Laboratory Standards (CPQL), organised by the unit of Medical Laboratory Sciences, Yenepoya School of Allied Health Sciences, was held from September 28 to 30, focusing on quality management, laboratory standards, accreditation and patient safety.

The three-day programme was organised in collaboration with the CAHO Student Engagement Committee and Diagnostic Division, with the aim of strengthening participants' understanding of quality practices and standards in laboratory services.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by chief guest Dr Suneel C Mundkur, chairperson, CAHO Academy and professor, department of paediatrics, KMC, Manipal. Dr Shivashankara AR, principal, Father Muller College of Allied Health Sciences; Dr Khalida Parveen Adnan, group director – laboratory services, Yenepoya Group of Hospitals; and Dr Sunita Saldanha, dean, Yenepoya School of Allied Health Sciences, were also present.

The programme brought together students, faculty members and experts for focused learning, interaction and practical exposure to quality laboratory practices.

The sessions covered laboratory quality, biosafety, quality control and accreditation, along with a hands-on mock audit exercise designed to provide participants with practical exposure to laboratory assessment and quality standards.

The programme aimed to strengthen a culture of quality and excellence in laboratory services and enhance awareness of practices that contribute to patient safety.
