Bantwal, Nov 10: The municipal councillors took officials to task in the meeting presided over by council president Mohammed Sharif on Thursday, November 10. They charged that the decisions taken in the meeting were not being implemented.

“Trash is getting piled up on the roadside. Hotels are leaving waste water on the road at Malkar. Though there are illnesses such as dengue and malaria, the municipal council is sleeping,” they said.

“The members had asked the officials to remove grass and shrubs from the roadsides. Bills for the cutting machine has not been paid. How can we get the work done?” asked the president to the members.

“Officials are roaming around the place in two government vehicles. The drainage is blocked. The officials are blaming others,” said A Govinda Prabhu.

Member Monish Ali sought clarification on the high spending for Independence Day. “Roadside business disturbs people. The petty shops should be vacated,” he said.

Member Janardhan Chandtimar has urged the officials to see to it that free drinking water is provided for SCs/STs. Member Lukman asked why the building licence was issued to those without STP plants.

Mohammed Nandavar, Vasu Poojary, Vidyavati Pramod Kumar, Hariprasad, Siddik Bogodi and others took part in the discussions. Chief executive Swamy and vice-president Jacinta D’ Souza were present.
