Kundapur: 15th CITU state conference, public meeting held

Kundapur, Nov 17: “CITU is campaigning against anti-labour policies of the union and state governments. The government is snatching the rights of the workers. The government is destroying the Beedi industry. The anti-labour policies including price rise of petroleum products should be condemned,” said CITU national chief secretary Tapan Sen.

He was speaking at a public meeting held as a part of the 15th CITU state conference.

“The assets of the country are going to the private people. CITU will be taking important decisions in the all India CITU conference scheduled from January 18 to 20, 2023 against the new finance policies that are favourable for only capitalists,” he said.

CITU state chief secretary Meenakshi Sundaram said that the government is levying GST on food products, school fees, bank charges etc. “The poor who do not have money are made to pay to the government. Public property, government banks, electricity, airports, government hospitals and schools are going to the private parties. The loan of the rich is being waived. The families that depend on the workers are insecure. Tax the rich, implement Rs 36,000 minimum salary policy for the workers, stop the privatization,” she said.

CITU state president S Varalaxmi presided. National leaders K N Umesh, senior labour leader V J K Nair, CITU 15th Conference Welcome Committee honorary president K Shanker, treasurer N Narasimha, Venkatesh Koni and labour leaders were present. Chief secretary Suresh Kallagar compered the programme. A rally was held before the meeting. Thousands of people marched holding red flags.
