Salim Emerged through Tough Competition: Dasgupta

Thiruvanthapuram, May 23 (PTI) Eminent filmmaker Budhadeb Dasgupta, who headed the Kerala Government's film awards jury, today said the national film panel's decision to confer the best actor award to Salim Kumar had in no way influenced the state jury.

Kumar was named the best actor by the state for his role in 'Adaminte Makan Abu', which also won him the National award earlier this week.

"Everyone on the jury panel was moved by the touching performance of Salim Kumar in 'Adamite makan Abu'. He emerged through tough competition for the title, outshadowing all others," he said during announcement of the state film awards.

"The success of an actor depends on a good script and good direction. Salim was fortunate to have both in the film," Dasgupta said.
