Udupi, Jun 9: “The universal teachings of Brahmashree Narayana Guru are for everyone in the society to lead a peaceful co-existence with people of different faiths, castes, and creeds,” said Swami Satyanandateerta of Shivagiri Mutt, Varkala, Kerala.

He was speaking after laying the foundation stone for constructing the Narayan Guru Mandir at Mudarangady, near here, on Thursday June 9.  The building will be constructed at a cost of Rs 15 lac under the leadership of Mudarangady Billava Samaj Seva Sangh ® for the benefit of the Billava community living in Santoor, Pilar, Yellur, Kunjoor, Kutyar, and Kolachoor villages.

Brahmashree Narayana Guru is revered by all people. “In a materialistic world, these worship centres will enlighten the minds of people and give spiritual bliss,” added the Swami.

All India Billava Federation president Jaya C Suvarna, in his presidential address, said that the teachings of Narayana Guru are inspiring them to work for the betterment of the community and society at large.

ZP president Katpady Shankar Poojary, former minister Vasant V Salian, Yellur Vishvanath temple managing trustee Y Praful Shetty, Savitri, Gopinat, Katpady Vishvanat Temple managing trustee Ashok M Suvarna, and Mudarangady Kenja St Francis Xavier parish priest Fr Louis D’Sa were the chief guests on the occasion.

Vedic celebrants Katpady Narayan Shanti, Dinesh Shanti, and Mahesh Shanti performed the religious rites associated with the foundation-laying ceremony. 

Mudarangady Billava Samaj Seva Sangh president Bhoja Anchan was present on the dais.
Former state minister Vasant V Salian, Bagga Poojary yane Umesh Kotian, and Udupi district Billavar Parishat announced a contribution of Rs 25,000 each, while Prakash Palame Shirva announced Rs 10,000 for the cost of construction.  Savitri and Gopinath donated the building site.

Mudarangady Billava Samaj Seva Sangh member Poojary yane Umesh Kotian welcomed the gathering.  The organizing secretary Hari H delivered the introductory address.  Chief secretary Rohan Kumar proposed the vote of thanks.  Journalist and joint secretary Rakesh Kunjoor compered the programme.
