Udupi: Rama Mutt Seer Inaugurates Community Bldg at Udyavar

Udupi, Jun 13: If the social welfare, voluntary organization and other community organizations unite and empower themselves, which will achieve the societal progress, said Brahmananda Saraswati Swami of Rama Mutt, Kanyady, near Dharmasthala, here.

He was speaking after inaugurating the newly-built Vitoba Rukmayee Narayana Guru community building at Udyavar, here on Sunday June 12.  The new building was constructed by Udyavar Billava Mahajan Sangh.

Brahmashree Narayana Guru had strived in his lifetime to bring the backward communities to the mainstream of society. Narayana Guru is not restricted to Billava community instead belongs to all the oppressed people in the society.

The state higher education minister Dr V S Acharya said that the teachings of Narayana Guru are ever prevalent in the society.

Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon, MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary, zilla panchayat president Katpady Shankar Poojary, Udyavar St Francis Xavier’s parish priest Seraj Pinto and Rajya Sabha member Oscar Fernandes’s personal assistant Ashok M Suvarna were the chief guests.

The former state minister Vasant V Salian presided.

Udyavar Billavar Sangh Shekar Kotian welcomed the gathering. The renovation committee president Vijay Kumar Udyavar delivered the introductory address. Sangh chief secretary Annayya Karkera proposed the vote of thanks. The renovation committee chief secretary Pratap Kumar compered the programme.

    Congratulations guys! Job well done. I do remember attending quite a few drama & other cultural program hosted by the BMS during my childhood. I am sure it will serve the poor section of the people, evermore.
